All About Hackney
Hackney is home to over 7000 businesses and hosts an extraordinary range of business environments, from the financial district at Broadgate, the creative centre of Hoxton and Shoreditch through to the creative and industrial areas at Hackney Wick.
There are nearly 3000 creative businesses including over 200 architectural practices, 400 film and video companies, 700 music and performing arts organisations, plus advertising agencies, software developers, and publishing companies located in the borough.
There is a large and prosperous High Value Manufacturing presence in the borough plus a growing retail environment with an especially strong independent sector. Whatever the industry, whatever the sector - Hackney loves doing business.
In recent years Hackney has become synonymous with London Cool.
The borough is emerging as the leading force in the creative industries and plays host to some of the capital’s leading arts and cultural organisations - including White Cube Gallery, Hackney Empire and Ocean.
Hackney Wick will be home to the International Broadcast Centre/Main Press Centre (IBC/MPC) which will be a 24-hour media hub for around 20,000 broadcasters, photographers and journalists - bringing the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to an estimated four billion people worldwide.

The borough’s vibrancy is reflected in its wide range of bars, restaurants and clubs.
With so much going on, and with so much choice available, Hackney really is a great place to live and work. It’s no wonder that the London Evening Standard voted Hackney the capital’s coolest borough, and more recently both Italian Vogue and the Guardian have highlighted Dalston as the coolest place in London.
