Avanti Communications

Not many people know this, but in 2010, Europe’s first privately financed Broadband satellite will be launched from French Guiana, by a company that is based here in Hackney.
 

Avanti Communications have been in Hackney since 2002, and in 2004 moved in to their current HQ building in Rivington Street. They currently supply broadband and corporate data network services across Europe, renting bandwidth from other satellite operators. The launch of their own satellite in 2010, followed by a second planned for 2012, mean that Avanti will be looking to expand their workforce, and as a result they will soon outgrow their current building. Despite the potential attractions of a large business park, co-founder David Williams is determined to stay in Hackney.
The Avanti workforce is young, and drawn from all over the world, and the creative, eccentric and eclectic environment of Shoreditch suits their needs.
Avanti have decided, therefore, to redevelop their current site, and contacted Invest in Hackney for information, advice and support.
