Meanwhile Space in Hackney
With support from the Shoreditch Trust, Meanwhile Space are currently residing in the first Meanwhile Centre at 253 Hoxton Street, a drop-in advice centre for people to go and find out more about the Meanwhile Project and the tools they’ve developed to support temporary uses of vacant spaces that benefit the community. Meanwhile was created as a result of the Government’s ‘Looking after our town centres’ document, launched on 14 April 2009 including the empty shops revival plan to prevent high street decline.
The Hoxton Street shop is currently being used by projects as a test space in which to pilot their ideas. The latest project to use the Hoxton Street shop is The Bunting Factory, who will be in the shop this Friday, 4th June.
